The summer Olympics are just around the corner now. The athletes are all making their way over to Biejing China now. Even the diplomats from all over the world are starting to make their way to the Games. All the excitement and anticipation is starting to reach its peak. But are these games about the athletes and sports that they are going to compete in or is it becoming more of a political stage?
Seems like the closer we get to the beginning of the 2008 Olympics the more the stories are coming out about things other than the athletes and their drive for gold. More often than not we see more political agenda stories dominating the headlines.
These Olympic games more than anything have become the coming out party for China. A political stance the they are a super power in not only economic and military powers but social standings as well. Beijing China, is going to put on a show for all the world to see. A show of a country that is united strong and balance. Of course most of the world knows the the political unrest that is going on in China.
The real stories of course is that of the people the athletes that have trained for years to get to this point. Those stories no matter what country the athlete calls home will be the ones that break down borders and sterotypes. It’s the human element that will touch more people than any political agenda or marketing strategy. So here’s hoping that those who are taking the pictures and shooting the videos catch the real drama, the real stories that make up the true meaning of the Olympic games.
