My Dog Ate My Scrabble Board Game

OK this will sound this will be a bit of a bizarre sentence to start a post with but here it is, my dog ate my scrabble board game    I know it sounds like that old home work excuse that kids try to pull on their teachers at school. The fact still remains though that our dog Harley who is a hurricane of a pup by the way got a hold of the scrabble board that was left out on the table the other night and took a big chunk out of the board. Also I am not sure but I think we are missing a few scrabble tiles as well! I’m pretty sure there is supposed to be one hundred scrabble tiles and we are a few short of a complete set.

I don’t know about your family but board games have always been a constant in our family and scrabble has always been the preferred board game of choice for our family. So needless to say when we saw that our puppy had gotten a hold of the scrabble board game that has been passed on through the family for generations….. just kidding  sounded good though.

Seriously though I was sitting here at work on my lunch break of course ;-) browsing the official scrabble site to see what new editions of the game were available. Needless to say I was surprised to see that the folks over at Hasbro are now offering a Diamond edition of the Scrabble. Wow does this think look fancy well at least as fancy as you can get with a board game that has been the same for over 60 years now. I know you may be wondering like me is 60 really the anniversary of the diamond? I always thought that it was at the 75 year mark that was considered to be the anniversary to celebrate with the diamond.

I looked it up online by the way and I did not find a definite answer on that one. I was able to find more than a few different sources claiming that 60 or 75 was the diamond anniversary so I guess it’s up to who ever is celebrating I suppose. Back to my scrabble board game story though sorry I got a little side tracked with my story there.

This diamond edition of Scrabble is looking like a definite purchase, call me a sucker if you will but like I said we enjoy and truly appreciate a good board game in our family. Special features like the fact that it comes in it’s own folding protective case with hidden storage compartments for your pieces like the fancy curved tile racks. I know what your thinking oooooh and aaaaahhhhh  Don’t believe me do you well here is what I have done for you just because I care so much to give you the reader the most up to date information available even when it comes to a simple board game like scrabble. Check out the commercial for the Diamond edition of the  scrabble board game and see if you don’t agree how cool it looks now, enjoy!

OH and here is one more video kind of paying homage to the history of the scrabble game and how some people might be playing their words today. Thanks AT&T for this funny scrabble commercial
